Dr. Fuhrman will speak on:

  • The health effects of extreme heat, who is most vulnerable and how they can stay safe.
  • Some of the meteorological and climatological aspects of extreme heat.
  • How extreme heat varies across different landscapes and environments.
  • How we can mitigate extreme heat.
  • And how citizens can get involved in measuring extreme heat within their communities to help reduce their risk. 

Chris’s research interests are in the fields of applied and synoptic climatology, where he studies the effects of weather and climate on society and the role of large-scale circulation features on the distribution and intensity of surface weather events.
